  2. Does your DVD player play anything else on the same type of media?

Many DVD players are not designed to read CD-R/W media and do so erratically (i.e., they may be able to read one brand but not another).

If your DVD player is designed to read CD-R/W media, then there is a chance that the VCDs were authored correctly. Can you play those VCDs on any other player or using a software DVD player on the PC?

    Regards.

  3. You could try making a clone copy of the VCD to CD-RW (assuming the concert is standard vcd and less than 74mins) and trying it. I think Pioneer DV-341 permits CD-RW. If that doesn't work, try demuxing from the Sony CD to your PC, and re-muxing to mpg. Then burn as standard (using your usual burner software)
I have had problems with a vcd that jumped and had terrible audio problems. I demuxed using TMPGEnc from VCD to HD and then re-muxed to form the MPG: then used VCGImagerGUI to make bin/cue (I use CDRWin to burn the umage file)
and burnt to CD. The new VCD played fine.
