I setup an MSI 6337 socket 370 tualatin motherboard with a 1.3Ghz Celeron Tualatin. I installed Windows98FE and when I went into the Control Panel to enable DMA transfer mode for my CD/DVD drives there was no option to enable DMA. It wasn't greyed-out,it just wasn't there.
Is this a condition peculiar to the Intel 815 chipset that the motherboard uses? I've setup lot's of motherboards and never encountered this problem.

I upgraded to Windows98ME and the option to enable DMA was now present. I was overclocking the CPU to 1.6Ghz under 98FE,no problem, but under 98ME it would not run at 1.6. I had to drop to it's normal 1.3 to get 98ME to load. Again is this peculiar to the 815 chipset?

jm2c but why do you run either of these antiquated OS. I have gone to all XP Pro and/or linux and have never been happier with Mr. Gates and his band of pirates. It took them all these years to figure out a home desktop system that actually does something well, other than the blue screen of death.

Problem solved,I found a new chipset driver on Intel's website that solved my promlems.
Last time I checked XP was a donation to Bill Gates. The blue screen of death occurs once or twice a year, hardly a problem.

I'm still using Windows 98SE and I don't have problems with it. Plan on using it for quite some time. The only reason I bothered going from Windows 95B -> Windows 98SE was for USB support.
