  1. I have attached a file to make it more easily understandable as to what I'm talking about. If you'll look at the dark pink area, you'll see them. They jump around in the video. Here are the specifics.

    -It is a cartoon
-It happens even when I preview before capturing
-It only happens on certain colors, particularly those colors approaching red, such as orange.
-It is telecined, but reverse telecining doesn't remove it.
-It works fine when I connect the VCR directly to a TV
-It does NOT happen on the commercials, only the cartoon itself
-The tape was recorded in slp mode, meaning 6 hours of cartoons on it

  2. Hmm, it doesn't look like my attachment made it. Anyway, the anomalies are almost like little checkerboard pattterns. If any of you have any suggestions, please let me know. I have a feeling since it is doing this on preview there's probably not much I can do about it.

  3. Oh, well, guess I'm destined to tackle this alone.

    Probably macroblocks. Increase your bitrate.

  5. I'm using huffy to capture. However, this happens even in preview mode. I have a viewing program called Quirix that monitors the capture port (viewing only) and it does it there too. I know that with some codecs, you can alter the incoming bitrate, but doesn't seem to be a way to do it with huffy. Hmm, I wonder if I altered something in my capture driver??

  6. Oh, forgot to mention. This cartoon was recorded from the TV about 10 years ago. It was a Daffy Duck Thanksgiving special. It's one of the funniest things I've ever seen.

So, macrovision shouldn't be an issue.
