  1. Using flaskmpeg version 0.7.8.38.
    Intel Celeron 1100mhz
    Windows 2000 Professional

    Error window recieved when double-clicking to run FlaskMPEG.exe:

    <<Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library
    Runtime Error!
    Program F:\Editing Tools\FlaskMPEG2\FlaskMPEG.exe
    abnormal program termination>>

    --followed by--

    <<FlaskMPEG: FlaskMPEG.exe - Application Error
    The instruction at "0x01ec15b5" referenced memory at "0x02051ed8". The memory could not be "read". Click on OK to terminate the program.>>

    Don't know why this happened, I use flask all the time to convert .vob files with divx5 codec. Did another program I installed freak out flask? Since flask doesn't install to registry, I can't see how this would happen. BTW, I did redownload/install the program, trying diff locations/folder names, etc. Same result. Something on my comp freaking it out? Flask has worked fine on this comp but came up with this error today.

  2. I used FlaskMPEG successfully many times before and it now crashes on my computer everytime. I can't figure it out either. It'll start to encode, then just quit with no warning. So, I switched to MPEG Mediator. People say Flask is unstable and it looks like they are right! I would suggest you try out MPEG Mediator. You can also encode into ASF files (MP4/1 through 3) which VirtualDub no longer allows you to do.

  4. tried mpeg mediator after newest flask crapped on me but mpeg mediator wont work for me, heres why.

    mpeg mediator will not encode to uncompressed avi. i am editing home movie that was transferred from 8mm>vhs>dvd. now i have the .vob files from the dvd and need to transfer them to "uncompressed avi" (which newest flask will do) so i can edit them in pinnacle studio 8.

    (uncompressed is highest quality, and i have a huge hd to boot so might as well use it, 8mm transfers already arent great).

    anyway, i would use the newest flask but it stopped working for me (*see original post). flask0.6 strangely works fine. i would use this version except i need flask0.78's cropping tools and ability to encode several .vob's into one output file (from .ifo file). flask 0.6 will only encode each .vob separately. plus i had very good success encoding divx-avi files with flask0.78.

    anyone have ANY suggestions on why flask0.78 gave me that message?*
    OR: i need a program that will encode in uncompressed avi, allow custom crop, and be able to encode several .vob's into one output (I NEED FLASK0.78!!!!!)

    Thank you

  5. I got the same error only with dvdlab.

    <<Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library
    Runtime Error!
    Program C:\program files\dvdlab\compile.aux
    abnormal program termination>>

    Did you ever find out what the problem was?

  6. Why not take the original 8mm film, and scan that to an uncompressed avi?
    If its quality your worried about, then thats what you need to do.

    Also, FlaskMPEG is not the only thing that will export an uncompressed avi.
    Ever heard of virtualdub? its a great tool, and its also free.

    You can open up your .vobs in DVD2AVI. Save your project, frameserve to virtualdub. Add some filters. Save .avi.

  7. got virtualdub, how do i output uncompressed avi?

    also, if anyone uses pinnacle studio 8, please reply with your import video success. studio doesnt finish rendering with any project; thinking it may have to do with the input video type, but not sure. have tried mpeg1, divx avi, standard avi, etc.

  8. I've heard that C++ runtime errors are rooted in motherboard configs, and the way to fix them is to use the cd that came with the motherboard to restore C++ settings. Can anyone validate, expound? Since Flask does not install to registry, I don't know what the problem is.
