I have several hours of home movies which I recorded to DVD+R from 8mm analog source. I used my Phillips DVD recorder which creates a basic AUDIO_TS and VIDEO_TS folder structure on the resulting DVD.

I wanted to do some moreadvanced editing, cutting away unwanted sections and applying some transitions before re-encoding back to DVD compliant TS folders.

I used TMPGenc DVD Author to "rip" to MPG2 which I thought could be imported into Pinnacle Studio 7 for editing but apparently that's not the case. At least not with the "MPG2" that TPMGenc DVD Author produces. Is there any other program or tool that I can use to produce AVI files from these DVDs, either directly from the DVDs I've made on the Phillics or from the MPG2 I did with TMPGenc DVD Author so I can then open them in Studio 7 to edit them before reencoding them back to MPG2.

Those videos that I don't need any further editing with, work perfectly fine directly on TMPGenc DVD Author. I rip from the phillips recorded DVD into MPG2, produce chapters and menus and reencode to DVD TS folders and burn with NERO.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

Have you tried to use the MPEG-2 mod version of Virtual Dub to create your AVI from the MPEG-2 files?
