Anybody know a good tool for this (not tmpgenc which generates out of syncs most of the time)

Muxing will not cause you to lose sync. If you are, then your encode method, or the source are at fault. Changing multiplexer's will most likely gain you nothing.

To anwer your specific question, you can use bbMPEG to multiplex. There may be a few others (check the TOOLS section). You can also take a look at the www.doom9.org website.

As i said Tmpgenc causes out of sync with most svcds. Moonlights "][Muxer" always works (though it usually makes the mpegs larger) - but it installs as direct show filters and i wish to avoid that.

I had of course checked the tool section before asking.

The bbmpeg you suggest seem only to convert avi to mpg.

May be fixing the encode errors as described by DJRumpy.

So do all the other ones, including TMPGenc.

That's pretty much all there is, unless you want to spend money on some software from www.pixeltools.com and get one of theirs.

That thing's so old, surprised people still use it.
I'm not online anymore. Ask BALDRICK, LORDSMURF or SATSTORM for help. PM's are ignored.

bbmpeg has one very nice feature: it can split mpg while multiplexing, which is veru useful for SVCDs. I think this is why it is used in dvd2svcd.
