I recently had to format my hd. After reinstalling WMP 9 and all files from
Windows update, WMP 9 won't play an .avi video that I have played many times
in the past. However the sound is fine. I have tried downloading the codecs
    from http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/format/codecdownload.aspx
and also enabling "Download Codecs Automatically" within the player but it
    still only plays the sound.
    Any suggestions would be appreciated.
    Thanks
    Gary

  2. Get avi codec or gspot from the tools section to find out the properties of the file and the codec that was used to compress it. Once you get this info, you can proceed from there.
    Turn your head and cough.
