It's the name of a group, kind of... Do a web search for Centropy, and you can find out about it.

Didn't they go on holiday some time ago? Or am I confusing them with one of the other groups.

I'm not sure - they may have. I've just seen a ton of videos out there with their name on them. But I think pretty much now it just means that a movie is of good quality, instead of actually being from that group.

  5. Centropy is the name of a movie release group. Their trademark is their top quality Telesyncs (a movie shot inside a cinema using a high end camera and a direct sound source) of new release movies. They also release pre-retail DVD Rips of movies on the internet.

They released some of the biggest movies of 2002 such as Scooby Doo, Spiderman and Attack of the Clones before disappearing from the piracy scene. Their have been a couple of rumours as to why this is. Some people say their supplier was busted whilst others (including Centropy themselves) blamed too much media attention and internal releases (releases meant only for group members) being made public. However they continued to release their pre-retail DVD Rips.

Then at the end of 2002 they released the movie "Jackass" to prove that they still existed and could provide their top quality Telesyncs. From then on it was another month or two before they started regularly releasing movies to the public.

Their new releases at first suffered some problems with such things as bad angles and blue tints however with their more recent releases they seem to have solved this problems and once again are providers of some of the best releases out there. The latest releases from them have included such movies as Matrix 2, Finding Nemo and Bruce Almighty.

Note: I do not condone piracy.

Thanks! I thought they ummm went away for a while. The rumor I had heard (passed through the newsgroups) was that they got a tip and shut down certain areas of activity for awhile until it blew over. But that was never confirmed.
