I have some MST3K Divx episodes that I'm converting to DVD for my nephew. I've burned them succesfully to where they play in my Panasonic a05, but they won't play on my standalone player. The compatibility matrix here says my KLH-221 should read DVD-R/W, but neither Princo DVD-R's nor Memorex DVD-RW's work.

My question is whether my procedure is correct:
I first extract the audio w/ virdualdub. I then use TMPGEnc to encode to .mpg with the Divx .avi and the extracted .wav. Then I use Spruceup to create the .vob's, and burn with Nero.

Are there any tweaks to making a DVD "more compatible" with standalone players?

    Thanks.

I had the same exact problem, and it might seem rather simple. Maybe it will work for you, maybe it won't.

But when I put my DVD into the DVD player it wouldn't start playing automatically (authored and burned same way as you) but pressing play on the remote made it run. Give it a try!

Is "first play" a SpruceUp setting, or a Nero/other-burner-sfw setting?
