    how did you burn it in nero? We need more details, I remember that when i started burning dvds I made the mistake of burning it in data mode, and although they played fine in my cpu, standalones expectedly had problems. Could also be a media issue, as in what kind of media your standalone can read. etc, etc, details are needed....

  4. 1) Use DVD info to see if it is a video disc.
    2) Right click on it and check its properties in windows.

    I just inserted a data cd.
    File system is CDFS, DVD info says its not a video disc.

    Now I inserted a dvd I backed up.
    File system is UDF, DVD info says disc is region 1,2,3 .....

    3) If you had not already done so, check and see if you DVD Player is capable of paying burn DVDs.

    Some devices that have no problem reading pressed DVDs cannot reliable read from burn ones.

    ok, i know i did dvdshrink right.... but maybe I did something wrong in nero... is there another program u reccomend I use instead??

    but anyway, i did select dvd video instead of data dvd.... so i know I did that right... then I selected ALL the BUP, IFO and VOB files and "drag" to VIDEO_TS then thats it... i then did CD BURN under file menu

    like I said, i then used my dvd player in windows and it played fine... but put in my TV DVD player and it says, please check disk

    when I went to windows explorer and went to E: i then right clicked it... here is what it says

    TYPE: Compact Disk
    FILE SYSTEM: UDF

    so anyone know if my dvd player is capable of playing these kind of disks... or is it something I did? its a Pioneer DVD-R disk that came free with my dvd burner... i also have a Pioneer DVD-RW that came with it... but I havent used it yet....

    please help, im very discouraged... I paid all this money for the burner, i dont wanna hear I have to buy a whole new DVD player too...

  7. Instead of using the DVD video setting try these settings;
    1)DVD-ROM(UDF/ISO)
    2)No Multisession
    3)ISO settings ISO level 1,ISO 9660 (Joliet is disabled)
    All ISO restrictions Disabled(Allow path depths etc OFF)

    When your new compilation window pops up make sure your settings are the same as above. Then click on the UDF tab and choose;
    UDF partition type; physical partition
    File system version; UDF 1.02

    These settings have not failed me yet with either DVD-R or DVD+R.

    What version Nero are you using? If it is an older version(less than 5.5.10.15) you may want to go to Nero site and download the newest version, it works. I use version 5.5.10.20 and have had no problems with any of the DVD-Rs I've burned and played on my Toshiba SD-1600.

    Did you include an Audio_TS file?
    Some players are picky and requie that folder.

    Another thought, give DVD-Lab a try, it is free for 30 days and fully functional. A quick read of the "Quick Start Tutorial" (6 pages when printed) is all that I needed to get my first one done.

    After a more thourough read, and on the website under "Tips and Tricks" I found it was easy to do "Switch Motion Menus". Excellent results.

    Hope this helps.

    I would first use a "RW" disc so I don't waste any more media then I would try another burning program like RecordNow Max.

    just my $0.02 worth...

    my philips dvd stand alone will NOT play burned dvds unless they are at least 4GB or larger

    it tells me to "check disk". this was solved by adding a "pad" file to the root of the DVD directory...(took a whole bunch of files and zipped em up, then renamed the zip to "dat"...never failed so far, even when making DVD slideshows...

  15. And I only use Nero to burn and they play fine in 4 DVD players I know of, Sony and Apex. I am using version 5.5.10.20

    You need to go to www.ahead.de and download the new version of nero. it is a free upgrade for OEM and bought versions.

    Good Luck

    Put an empty folder in the root of the DVD named "AUDIO_TS"
