  1. Allright, I apologize if this topic has been previously asked and answered sufficently. If this is the case please direct me to the topic.

I am trying to burn a DVD in Nero. I have read many tutorials from the forum and have gotten the DVD decrypted, stripped out all the things I don't want, and shrunk down the files to a point where I can fit them on the DVD+R.

I have used Memorex DVD+Rs and have not had much luck *actually that is a lie, no luck at all*. I then, in desperation tried a DVD+RW wich to my suprise actually worked.

I have tried using a previous version of Nero and this did not work. I went to their website and then downloaded 5.5.10.35 thinking that possibly it was my version that did not work. Still, only DVD+RWs will work.

I have tried many different ways which I will describe now:
    1) DVD-Video default by Nero not changing any settings. It will go through the entire process, get to the end of the DVD and then say that it can not close the DVD.

    2) DVD-UDF. I chose "Force DVD-Video compatability mode" in the UDF tab. Under the "Labels" tab I have it at ISO9660, Volume label was the title of the movie, and application I just left as it was. The box "Also use the ISO9660 for Juliet was checked." The Dates tab was left as is. The Misc. tab I did not check either Cache files from disk and network, or Cache files smaller than 64 KB. *I read earlier in a post that someone recommends checking this last box, any information on that would be welcome also.* Then under the Burn tab it was fairly straight forward, Write is checked, Do a virus scan remained un checked.

    3) DVD - UDF/ISO. To be honest I have yet to try this method but here are the settings I was told I should be using. If someone has feedback on this so I can prevent myself from making yet another coaster it would be appreciated.

    ISO TAB
ISO Level 1. ISO 9660. Uncheck the Juliet box. None of the Relax ISO Restrictions are checked.
    UDF Tab
Leave as is. Force DVD-Video compatability mode remains unchecked.
    Physical partition. UDF 1.02
    Label Tab
Clear both the Volume Label and Application.
    Misc. Tab
Check the Cache Files smaller than 64 KB

If anyone else is having the same problems as I, or could offer some help as to a solution for my 3 or 4 dollar coasters I would GREATLY appreciate it. Any and all feedback is welcome and I thank you in advance for your help in this matter.

    Thanks Again,

TRY CHANGING THE BOOK TYPE OF YOUR DVD+R . YOU CAN DO THIS USING THE LATEST VERSION OF NERO USE DVD VIDEO AND MAKE SURE THAT ISO LEVEL 1 IS CHECKED ALONG WITH ISO 9660. UNCHECK EVERYTHING ELSE. CLICK NEW. AT THE TOP OF THE SCRENE SELECT RECORDER NOW SELECT MEDIUM-INFO PRACTISE USING A +RW NOW CHANGE BOOK TYPE TO DVD ROM. THE FOLLOWING CAN BE USED TO CHECK WHAT BOOK TYPE YOUR DVD+R DISKS ARE RECORDED. BUT DOSEN'Y APPLY TO CHANGING DVD+R BOOK TYPE. OPEN YOUR WRITE CD DIALOG UNDER BURN CHECK BOOK TYPE DVD-ROM. HOPE THIS HELPS I HAVE NOT HAD DVD PLAYER THAT COULD'T PLAY MY DISCS USING THIS METHOD ALWAY USE BOOK TYPE DVD-ROM FOR DVD+R/+RW TO BE MUST COMPATIBLE.

  3. I guess a FIRMWARE UPDATE could solve your problem.

You are right if he was talking about compatibility with standalone players.

If the problem is burning +R then he should check for FIRMWARE update.
Older FWs don`t like 4X medias.

  7. I appreciate all the feedback.

In response, my firmware is updated. Checked just yesterday.

What image tool would you be referring to? I have just been using DVD Decrypoter and when need be DVD Shrink.

In a related question, everyone recommends just burning hte ISO from Decrypter but as far as I can tell there is no way to strip excess baggage from those files, if so please let me know.

    Thanks again,
    Justin

Stick to using nero it's a book type problem that your having your Dvd+rw is being read as a Dvd-rom your Dvd+r is not . Nero can sort this out.

  10. I don`t get it.
You said the DVD+RW worked OK.

Anyway if you get lost in Nero just give RecordNow Max a try.
Even RecordNow 4.56 works fine for me.
