  1. I recently acquired 3 episodes of Firefly that were captured from a VHS. Now the quality of these are pretty poor, and it seems to me that the AR is wrong. Is there any way to clean these up using TMPGenc or CCE, or some other software? Here is a jpg of what the video looks like, if you need some more i can upload a sample mpeg somwhere.

  2. We are going to need more information on the capture, what format it is in, what specifically is wrong with it, how do you want to clean it up, what resolution is it captured in, etc.

If it looks like it has "jaggies" and such, those are interlace lines(assuming that the capture was done at 352X480 or higher res) once it's authored and played on a TV the "jaggies" will go away.

Other than that general nugget 'o knowledge, more info will be forthcoming once we get more info.

My bad, had a duh moment there. All three were captured from crappy VHS sources onto SVCD. Here is a read out from media info:

    General
    File size : 767 MegaBytes
    Format : MPEG 2 multiplexer
    Overal bitrate : 2000 KBps
    PlayTime : 3ms

    Video #0
    Codec : MPEG Video 2
    Bit rate : 2000 KBps
    Bit rate mode : CBR
    Width : 480 pixels
    Height : 480 pixels
    Aspect ratio : 4/3
    Frame rate : 29.97 Fps

    Audio #0
    Codec : MPEG Audio 2 layer 1
    Channels : 2

I would like to fix the AR and make them not look squished, and also if its possible clean up the interlace artifacts.
