Seems to be that you could be much more productive if you figured out why they aren't working for you. Obviously they must be working for other people...
-
Where are you downloading it from ? I am having trouble getting it to download at it's website.

Worked fine for me. Sorry if did not for you. My Sony DVP-NS315 DVD Player, plays everything I throw at it. DVD Shrink is a gem. It worked great for backing up Band of Brothers which has two movies per disk or episodes. Works great when you want to get rid of the menus like in backing up South Park disks.

The newest versions are betas. They are only being released for beta testing, so that when things go wrong, which they inevitably will, you can report it back the author so he can fix it. You can't complain when you run into problems with betas, that's the whole point of a beta release. Its not finished yet, its just for testing purposes.

the new ver are full of bugs
it only works with some movies- housepig

out now:

Unicorn "Playing With Light" -
To my eye, there is a significant improvement in quality -- explaining the longer encoding times. The tonal range is on a par with IC (excellent), and sharpness is slightly better than DVD2One.

I have used and loved DV Shrink with great results. I tested the new version and created some coasters, so went back to 1x until I can figure out 2x version. If past performance indicates anything it is that this new version will be even better.

Have you tried using different media? About 90% of my issues in the past have been the media. The other 10% is usually the IFO files are not standard (usually happens when you use the reg hack for IC 7 to remove extras) or the DVD player is very particular about the DVD-R or DVD+R media.
I just stopped buying cheap media from meritline, allmediaoutlet, and the likes. I started buying Apple 2X (which are Maxell) $3/disc and TDK 2X about $2.30/disc from Target or Fry's and they have worked beautifully. No complaints, no headaches, no hassle trying to burn cheap media which in the end may cost more when there are more coasters.
Just to give another reason why I switched to better media is because the outer edges of cheapies tend to be horrible. Movies will freeze near the end and this happens very very frequently and on many backups. I also tried burning data DVD's and they don't play on all DVD-ROM drives. However with TDK and Apple, I have no issues so far. Been doing this for the last 6 months. Rather pay a little more to get rid of the hassle of getting coasters, compatibility issues, and sacrificing quality in order to fit a movie into a DVD blank that has bad outer edges. -
what are some of the problems that are happening, besides it sucking and being worthless...i think the new versions are soooo much improved over the last 1.3
i used to have a lot of problems with dvds with 1.3.
mostly problems with pgc's and other things when trying to add extras.
the new version hasnt given me any problems and has worked in my standalone and many others...
i was just wondering what some of the things that were going wrong.
also, this is very related to DVDShrink because most people that use dvdshrink to put things from 2 dvds onto one run into this problem..
can you guys take a look at this post?

DVDShrink is alright but the problem is it doesnt work with closed-captioned from TV (not the subtitles). DVD2One is the best one because its the same as DVDShrink but it does work with closed-captioned from TV.

Hi all
Traffic, PAL, R2, movie-only.
DVD2One v1.1.3 vs DVD Shrink v2.2 (30%, no cropping. Better quality, 25%, was achievable with end-credits cropped).
http://www.poker-faces.com/temp/2one-shrink.html
The difference between the two backups is not as pronounced during normal viewing but is still very much noticeable.
Who wants to play the game?
Mr. Shrink is working very hard to squash v2.2 remaining bugs; v2.3beta is already available for testing. -
Hi,
Just got finished comparing About Schmidt using Instant Copy and DVDShrink 2.2. I must say that I was very surprised to find that the DVDShrink copy was much better in quality especially in dark, shadowy areas where pixles are more noticable. Here are the particulars:
IC:
90% with everything thrown out but the movie and menu.
Total time: 7hrs (500mhz K6III - booo!)
DVDShrink:
Level 1 (5%) compression = 95% of original with movie only and the end credits cropped off.
Total time: 1hr encoding - 30min burn at 2X = 1.5hrs
DVD shrink is my new favorite...
odd -
yep 2.3 pretty much fixes most if not all playback problems. I think the only thing left is layer break removal that gives a few problems.

eh?
Its a compression prog mate, compresses DVD's. Would have to say its DVD quality!
