I am having a problem with an AVI file that I created in Premiere 6. When I attempt to encode it with TMPGE I get an error message that says something like "not supported file format". It is a DV AVI, captured from my Sony Digital 8 camcorder. ANy ideas what might be wrong??

Can you play them and watch whatever you captured ?
Go to Premiere 6.0's file information under File menu. select the file you have captured. What does it say there ? -
Did you ever try to use avisynth? There is a AVS patch that when ran will let TME... see AVS but it will not see AVI files
Just a LITTLE problem I ran into.
