  1. ok, i'm gonna try to explain this as clearly as possible. i've currently got Tmpgenc Plus v. 2.56, virtual dub v. 1.5 and a dvd rip (700 mb). what i've been trying to do for days now does not seem to work at all. i want to make a vcd from this .avi file. i've read every single tutorial out there, so i know exactly what to do, the only problem is i'm getting no audio at all from my output file, which is the mpg (encoded). i can watch this avi fine in windows media player, it's got no problems whatsoever, and the audio plays perfectly fine. so i go into tmpenc, and set up the program for a vcd, load the avi, then i even try previewing it, and even in there, there is no audio at all. i even tried using virtual dub (with every setting possible) and extracted the .wav from the avi and tried to use that as my audio source for the avi, but even then , i'm getting no audio. so far i've summed up the following:

    1. i've checked the avi with Gspot, and my pc has all the specs needed to play the file.
    2. i've tried a bunch of different settings in tmpgenc, but i still get nothing
    3. the .wav that i extracted from virtual dub plays perfectly fine, even in tmpgenc, but it does not play with the previewed or outputted mpg file.
    4. even when i tried a different program to encode the avi, like that panasonic encoder, and the outputted mpg from the avi has no audio at all.

i desperately need help with this problem, i've tried almost every possible combination and i still can't get any audio out of this avi, whcih is then encoded to mpg. please help

open video file in goldwave. audio only will appear. save as wav. use this in tmpgenc. you can go to source range in tmpgenc and see the audio. if it is a flat line, then audio is not readable, most likely because it is an ac3 file. if so extract wav with vdub. rename to .ac3 and convert to wav in headache and use this to encode

  5. ok i got it fixed... turns out all this trouble was actually just a ******* corrupted ac3 audio codec located in windows. reinstalled a good one and it worked fine. ******* nimo codec pack was the problem all along, it wouldn't install that ac3 codec properly... oh well she's fixed now so thanks all who replied.
