    when i capture AVI, enconde to MPEG and put on a DVD, the sound only comes through the TV and not the Amplifier ?? how so ?? is it becase its an analogue source ??

    AC3 sound ? Maybe the tv supports a center channel and the receiver does not

    Glasgow eh? I've been there. Had some haggis at Harry Ramsden's, with the family. They batter fry the stuff there you know.

    This sounds like a hardware connection problem, and not an mpeg issue. Do store bought DVD's play properly with sound through the receiver?
