When you render video, is it identical to the original captured video? I know it may be different i.e adding effects, transitons etc, but is the quality identical to the original? Or does it depend on the software you use to render? I use Vegas 4.
Thanks!

If you are talking about rendering effects into AVIs in your VEGAS, then the quality will be basically the same. When you go to COMPRESS the video (ie, convert to MPEG2), then a lot of information is just tossed out (thus, a loss of quality). However, most of what is tossed out is not noticeable.
But maybe you could just do a simple test. Render a rendered video a couple of times, with the input being the result of the last render - sort of a copy of a copy of a copy, etc. Then compare the ORIGINAL with this new 10th generation copy.
