I know many of you like to use the Noise Reuction filter in tmpgenc. I've been using it latley with the default settings on my VHS caps and I am not seeing a real difference in quality. Are the default settings just not good enough? I would like to know if I am just wasting my time by making the encoding process so much longer. Thanks

Noise reduction makes a small difference when you set it pretty high but what seems to work best is setting the sharpness.

i don't like using tmpgenc noise filter.
it is very slow and don't remove very strong noise.
i use convolution3d and/or TemporalSmooher filters of avisynth.
