  1. Quite surprised, Dvdshrink has been re-release, apparently the 2.0 had a bit of bug

    Version 2.20 - 11 June 2003

    - Fixed bug where fast forward/fast backward playback did not function correctly in target disk.

  2. I've used 2.0 for only one movie now. I have another on the burner.

Have to check ff, playback. Seemed fine when I checked for video/audio.

  3. That particular bug was only in 2.1 beta, so if you just used 2.0 then your ff / playback should be fine.

  4. Is the quality better in DVD2ONE or DVD Shrink? Thanks.

  5. Quality depends what you are doing, and is obviously subjective. If you are just re-encoding the main movie my impression that DVD2One was better. Although that is one of the things that was supposed to have been improved in DVDShrink 2.x (I haven't tried version 2.x on re-encoding yet). If you are wanting to copy various things, crop, split generally do more manipulations then DVDShrink is the tool. I tend to use use DVDShrink if the movie fits on 1 disk without re-encoding (just stripping junk) or if I want to split the movie without re-encoding. I tend to use DVD2One on movies less that 130 minutes, but still too large to fit on one disk without re-encoding.

  6. Did something sorta cool last night.

Backing up Band of Brothers disk 1. It is really 2 episodes seperated by the menu.

With shirk2.2 I was able to have the second episode start immediately after the first (makes sense if you have seen the movie) AND crop the into/credits off of BOTH episodes and of couse stripping out unnecessary audio. I had to shink it kinda hard (level 5) but it appears to look better than the old level 5.

In my opinion I have a much more watchable move now. I skip through tons of crap.

Can't wait to do the rest of the series.

  7. the one thing i still like much better about dvd2one than dvd shrink is the fact that i can tell dvd2one to make my dvd exactly 4.33 gigs in size and it does it, where as dvd shrink you have to choose a level and usually its quite smaller than 4.33. But for more options yes dvd shrink is the way to go
