Hi,
A couple of daft newbie questions, all about reducing waiting time:
H/W used: 2.8Gig Athlon, 512Meg 333 memory
1. Roxio Easy CD/DVD Creator: does anyone know what the above program is doing when it is 'encoding' an SVCD or VCD disk? As far as I know I've captured to the correct SVCD/VCD formats but it seems to take forever before the disk starts to be burned. I'm assuming that it's converting the MPEG1/2 to the DAT (?) format it requires but is it 'messing' with the video itself (eg: reducing bit rates, etc) ? I assume yes, given that you can add AVIs + MPEGs etc to a project: they must be getting converted somehow.
If it isn't doing a straight 1-for-1 write, how do I reduce the amount of conversion it needs to do....?
Is there a better package to use for burning?
2. As far as I'm aware the spec of my PC is reasonably high. Is there any way to capture directly to MPEG1 / 2 format *of reasonable quality* in real time? When I'm capturing at the moment (via WinDVR) CPU is only 10% used... Basically what I'm after is to capture SVHS and burn to straight to SVCD with the minimum delay.
Thanks for reading this far, I look forward to any input....
