can the forum help with a problem that seems peculiar to my new pentium 4 running XP. my old computer can encode the movie fine because I can change the TMPEG environmental setting to direct stream to get the audio. But as soon as I do this on the new computer TMPEG crashes. This also happens when I try to play the clip in WMP9. I have tried reinstalling TMPEG and even copying across the TMPEG program on a network between the two computers. It seems to have something to do with direct stream. Even when I use virtual dub to try to get a wave file, as soon as I use direct show, the program crashes.
What am I doing wrong? I really want to use the new machine for my encoding because it cuts encoding time down from about 6 hours (on the old machine) to less than an hour (on the new one).
thanks in advance
