I am trying to burn a VCD movie with VCDEasy and need suggestions on proper methods in burning. I have read the online guide and find it vague & outdated (specific questions below). My system has VCDEasy version 1.1.5. My burning task relates to files like below.

    Movie_cd1.bin
    Movie_cd1.cue
    Movie_cd1.xml

Burn the cue & bin file through other programs seems straightforward. The ambiguity relates to VCDeasy, the xml, and cue file. After opening both the xml & cue files in a text editor, I noticed that the cue sheet does not have any subindex data while the xml has extend chapter information. Here’s the cue file.

    FILE "movie_cd1.bin" BINARY
    TRACK 01 MODE2/2352
    INDEX 01 00:00:00
    TRACK 02 MODE2/2352
    INDEX 00 00:04:00
    INDEX 01 00:06:00

How does one include the chapter information in the xml while burning the vcd with VCDEasy?

How does one verify that VCDEasy burns a NTSC VCD (or PAL for that matter)? Can you convert a PAL bin to NTSC? What tools do you need for such conversion?

Other ambiguities relate to disabling CDRDAO. The online guide description did not work for me. Information on subtitle support interest me as well.

  2. The CD image is in the combined CUE/BIN image. The BIN file contains the actually digital data. The CUE file tells the burner how to burn the BIN image (including where tracks starts and end).

The XML file is a descriptor file used by VCDImager / VCDEasy to MAKE the CUE/BIN image. Unless you are interested in manual authoring of the VCD, you can safely ignore the XML file.

You burn the CUE/BIN image with a program that understands CUE/BIN images (e.g., CDRDAO or CDRWin or even Nero). Generally you have to load the CUE file (the cuesheet is like a control file for the CUE/BIN image).
