Help debugging a SVCD issue...
I downloaded a certain movie about clown fish in BIN format. Actually SVCD format. When I play the SVCD on my DVD, the resolution looks very low. Almost as if the film is playing at half the real resolution.
If I extract the MPEG from the BIN and play in on my computer, the resolution looks fine. I also tried taking that MPEG and recreating a SVCD using nero. But when I play that SVCD, it also appears to be lower resolution.
A quick way to tell is the X in the PIXAR logo at the start of the movie. On the computer it looks smooth, and on the DVD player it looks jagged. And it is NOT due to the resolution difference between the computer and the TV.
I also used another method to play the MPEG directly on the TV (using QCAST) and the resolution looks fine.
Reading the MPEG into virtual_dub, the resolution is stated as
(480x576), 2 = (4:3)
Any tips on what the cause of this is? Something in the SVCD flags?
Thanks,
Dubya
