Here's my situation:
-Ulead works half way with me
-TMPGENC went through its 30-Day trial, so no MPEG2 converts
-DVDit can't convert for me
The reason I decided to use these programs was because they could convert AVI files automatically...
Ulead seemed to work fine, until I played the DVD on my DVD player. Sound was present for 4 seconds, then disappeared... I tried to edit the movie and put in a WAV file, hoping to override the corrupt sound files on the DVD, but that didn't work.
After hours of searching on this site and forum, I looked towards DVDit. However, when I went to burn the DVD, the process didn't progress when it came time for the program to convert my AVI file.... I believe that if I had a suitable MPEG2 convertor, then this would prolly solve my problem...
Please Help,
Thanks In Advance

fork over the 20 bux for tmpgenc and convert till your hearts content. or redownload

I've redownloaded, and still it doesnt allow me to covert... but I'll try it again to make sure I wasn't dreaming that I redownloaded it...
Can anyone answer the other questions?
**Update: Yea, redownloading it won't work.... -
The word you seem to be avoiding is to pay for it. If you pay you can convert to mpegII

Infact, I am avoiding it. I'm kind of on a tight budget concerning making these DVDs because its not absolutely needed... and also I just spent my money on the DVD burner.. so I'm going to have to save up again.. I am only in High School after all... Is there any other way to work around this?

Ulead DVD MovieFactory 2 is designed to convert files such as DV .avi files captured from consumer DV camcorders.
I have noticed these types of DV .avi files work without a hitch.
I have noticed frequent problems, however, with source files obtained through 'ripping' of commercial DVD discs.
Your source file... how did you obtain it?

Yay, I got a full version copy of TMPGENC today from my friend.. so now my converting problems are over.. now to actually make the DVD, which I'm going to retry..
The source file is an avi downloaded off of Kazaa... and was captured from TV -
I did a test run burning on a DVD+RW to avoid any coasters with Ulead. I played the movie on my Mintek 2580 DVD Player, however it seemed to work fine in the beginning. But then, the movie skipped every three seconds. What can cause this? Can it be because its a DVD +RW? Can it be the player? I tested it on a DVD player on my computer and it worked perfectly.
To rule out its because of Ulead, I'm currently burning the same movie file using DVDit.
