Hello,
I am trying to convert a Pal DVD to NTSC. I have read (and tried to follow) the Standards website link on this site and in one of the VERY informative forum posts. My questions are as follows.
1. Following the Standards guide I created a d2v file with the following contained in it:
VD2AVIProjectFile
6
38 C:\MATRIX_2_PDVD\VIDEO_TS\VTS_01_0.VOB
38 C:\MATRIX_2_PDVD\VIDEO_TS\VTS_01_1.VOB
38 C:\MATRIX_2_PDVD\VIDEO_TS\VTS_01_2.VOB
38 C:\MATRIX_2_PDVD\VIDEO_TS\VTS_01_3.VOB
38 C:\MATRIX_2_PDVD\VIDEO_TS\VTS_01_4.VOB
38 C:\MATRIX_2_PDVD\VIDEO_TS\VTS_01_5.VOB
Stream_Type=1,0,0
iDCT_Algorithm=2 (1:MMX 2:SSEMMX 3:FPU 4:REF 5:SSE2MMX)
YUVRGB_Scale=1 (0:TVScale 1:PCScale)
Luminance_Filter=0,0 (Gamma, Offset)
Picture_Size=0,0,0,0,0,0 (ClipLeft, ClipRight, ClipTop, ClipBottom)
Field_Operation=0 (0:None 1:ForcedFILM 2:SwapOrder)
Frame_Rate=25000
Location=0,0,5,188AA
After that its just a bunch of numbers. Now my AVS filename/script is as follows:
LoadPlugin("F:\Pc recovery\Burn Stuff\DVD BurnWare\MPEG2DEC.dll")
LoadPlugin("F:\Pc recovery\Burn Stuff\DVD BurnWare\SmoothDeinterlacer.dll")
MPEG2Source("C:\MATRIX_PDVD\VIDEO_TS\matrix.d2v")
SmoothDeinterlace(doublerate=true)
LanczosResize(720,480)
ChangeFPS(59.94) # or ConvertFPS(59.94)
SeparateFields()
SelectEvery(4,1,2)
Weave()
ConvertToRGB()
Is this right? Do these files need to be separate? Combined and then rename/saved as an AVS Script. And speacking of AVSynith...does it do anything or is it just there to reconize files with the AVS extention.
When I load that AVS file into TMPGEnc and give it all of the correct settings it creates file that is about 1.3 megs long. Now I am a newbie to this but i know that is not right. The final encoded m2v file should be way bigger than that. What am I doing wrong? Now on to DVD2AVI. This DVD has DD 5.1 sound. I did run it through DVD2AVI with the settings specified. I got a small d2v file (listed above) and a 500meg .ac3 file. Is that correct? I then ran that .ac3 file through besweet to convert it to NTSC 29.37 FPS. Still on the right track?
I guess i just really need to know why when I input my AVS file does it not encode the whole movie?
Oh also if I ever succesfully get this done will the menus still be intact?
Thanks so much in advance for comments.

Hello
I had a thread going with Xesdeeni (who created that website) and in that thread we hashed out a lot of stuff including more detail as to how to actually do some of this stuff. The website is a great resource but at times it is vague.
If you read through this thread it should answer just about any of your questions:
