I'm currently experimenting with two authoring packages to see which one is best for my needs. The packages are MovieFactory 2 and DVD Lab. I'm also testing several different encoders such as bbmpeg, tmpgenc, and MovieFactory. Here is the issue I've run into and I wanted to know what the solution is.
I've captured several clips in the huffy codec in virtualdub. I've also captured using some standard codecs using UYVY (I think that's what it's called. I never remember anacronyms very well). Anyway, when I try to pull the AVI huffy files into MovieFactory, I get an error saying the file is unaccessible. However, it will let me preview it in the little preview window. Strange. Also, I tried capturing using "uncompressed". When I even single click on that one, MovieFactory shuts down immediately with no error message or anything. The UYVY files come in ok, no problems. Oh, and mpeg2 files come in ok as well.
I would like to use the huffy codec. What I will probably be doing anyway is encoding with bbmpeg then dropping to MovieFactory or DVD Lab. However, I would still like to test MovieFactory when it comes to conversino. Does anyone know the solution to this problem?
