hey guys, im sorry about such a lame post... but iv looked and couldnt find the answer.... im going today to buy a dvd burner, cases and some labels.... then im gonna go to blockbuster and well watch a couple movies!!!
anyway, i found this page
https://www.videohelp.com/forum/userguides/141024.php#dvd5
it basically says that if the movie is DVD5, it will make an exact duplicate of the movie with menus, etc
BUT, what if the movie is not DVD5, it is DVD9.... i know you can shrink it and either lose some quality or you can lose the menu or extras... but I dont want to do it that way.... I wanna keep the exact same quality and keep the extras... so how do you do it that way? is there a way to put all the extras on a disk by itself ? have a 2 disk set? will that usally fix the problem? or am I gonna normally have to cut the movie in half and have to switch disks in the middle of the movie??
also, how do I do it? I just downloaded that DVDDecrypter AND DVDXCOPY from kaz.... i havent used them yet, cuz I dont have my burner yet, but when I am using them, will it tell me when "disk is full, please insert another disk" or something like that to make it easy???
really, any help is appreciated... thanks

You can use DVDXCopy to do exactly what you want -- it will backup your movies at exactly the same quality, keep all the menus, extras, etc. It just puts it on two disks (assuming the movie is too big to fit on one, which is usually the case nowadays for all but the very shortest of films). It's what I use all the time, since I am unwilling to settle for anything less (what's the point of backing something up that isn't the same as the original? I guess I should back up all my word documents but only keep 90% of the words in them :>)
It has a message at the end of the first disk asking you to insert disc number two. It works great (although episode disks, like the STTNG, don't work at all on it -- for that you need something like DVDShrink which, despite its name, can be used to backup at full quality by putting less episodes on each disk). DVDXCopy isn't the only program that will do what you want -- there is right now a beta program (free for now -- about $20 when released) that looks like it does the same -- but I don't have the link handy (if you're interested let me know and I'll dig it up)."Like a knife, he cuts through life, like every day's his last" -- Mr. Kiss Kiss Bang Bang

Ah, I found the link:

DVDFab. I don't know much about it -- since I own DVDXCopy I haven't really needed to look at this, but as my tag suggests, I'm also one to try and collect all the tools available."Like a knife, he cuts through life, like every day's his last" -- Mr. Kiss Kiss Bang Bang

wow thanks... i knew there had to be a way.... so what do you usually do? just cut the movie in half into 2 disks? or by putting all the extras on 1 disk itself, does that cut it down enough to put the whole movie on 1 disk??
this all sounds WAY too easy.... i must be forgetting something.... is it really this easy???

This is *way* too much work for me (which DVDXCopy I push one button and I'm done :>)"Like a knife, he cuts through life, like every day's his last" -- Mr. Kiss Kiss Bang Bang
