I have an ATI Radeon 7500 that is outputed to my television via s-video. The computer shows up fine on my television. If I go to watch an .avi/.mpg no video is displayed. The video is playing on my PC monitor, but not on my TV. Any one have any ideas?? The video box turns to a dark red/maroon type color the minute I press play.
Thanks for your help,
Ryan

I had an ATI AIW 128 that gave me identical displays on my monitor and a TV but only if I set the display to 640x480. I changed to an ATI AIW Radeon 7500 and was pleasantly surprised to find that it would give me 1024x768 on the monitor with 800x600 on the TV. Until I tried to play back some video and found the video window was blank on the TV but playing my clip on the monitor. I think this is the problem you have.
As I connect the TV out to a VCR and play my clips in full screen to record them to tape, this wasn't particularly useful. I found that if I changed the display on the monitor to 800x600 and clicked the button under the TV display in the Displays section of the video properties, so that both displays were using the same size and refresh rate, it all started to work as I wanted, both displays were identical.
I believe it should be possible to do it without having to degrade the monitor display, but I've not found that one yet! -
Why does everyone have this problem. It's an overlay issue that can be remedied to going to the display properties, clicking on the settings tab, then pressing the advanced button. Here's you will see a tab that says overlay. Click on it. Enable theatre mode and set it to fullscreen video.
