I have a Sony DVP-NS330 and any dvds or svcds I've burnt playback fine in a windows dvd player but in black and white on my sony dvd player. the box was supposed to be multi region enabled and I've also tried the multi region hack 'success' but they are still in black and white.
can anyone answer my query please. How can I play them in colour?
thanks

The SONY line of DVD players will not do conversion. So if you have an NTSC model and play a PAL disc in it then it either will not work at all or if it does it will output PAL only.
So are you trying to play PAL on a NTSC model or vice versa? That is probably the problem here.

I have a PAL model and am trying to play NTSC disks.
The place I bought it from was supposed to have adapted it, but that hasnt worked. I have also been to a sony hack site where my model is listed but the hack didnt work either.

P.S.
There are DVD players that can do conversions such as NTSC to PAL or vice versa. You should probably look into getting just such a model. Here is a website that carries "code-free" DVD players. Some of the models they carry will do this type of conversion.

my apex 1100w (NTSC) will play PAL vcd's, svcd's, & dvd's and display in ntsc.. so will my sanyo dwm-370.. i know that the pioneer dv-250 will do it for vcd's & svcd's, but not for dvd's..
they do exist.. -
Your "Black and White" picture problem is nothing to do with the DVD player, it's your TV. To get a colour NTSC picture you'll need a multistandard TV. A lot of VCR's and DVD players output at PAL 60 as well as native NTSC, but you need a TV that can handle it.

In the UK (and the rest of Europe and the world!) most TV's are now multistandard in that they will take an NTSC signal and display in properly. Failing that, they will accept a PAL 60 signal (which most VCR's and DVD player will output) and show that perfectly. Either way, there is no point in doing a proper NTSC to PAL conversion unless you want to copy the material using analogue inputs.
