i have been trying loads of different methods to convert my stereo audio file and think i have finally found the best option.

1. run dvd2svcd to convert from avi to mpeg-2, making sure you untick 48 -> 44.1 just select stereo and 384 bitrate.

2.dvd2svcd will sort out your video a treat but you can improve the sound drastically and as dvd2svcd uses besweet it can cause problems with some dvd players.

3.dvd2svcd will leave you with about 20 files but the one you want it called something like 'Encoded_audio_1.mp2.wav' and is normally about a gig in size.

4.start soft encode and in the encode settings change audio coding mode to 2/0 (L R), on dolby surround mode change to dolby surround encoded and lastly tick save frames in intel byte order.

5.take the file that this gives you and the encoded video file that dvd2svcd gives you ( or pulldown file if it exists) rename them to your film name.

6.use spruce up or ifo edit to author and then use record now max to write to disk.

i have found this gives me the most compatible end product possible with a very good pro logic sound file and excellent quality picture. to finish the job of properly make sure you use a high quality dvd-r that has a ritek dye.

any comments or suggestions appreciated
