    Hi guys,

Nowaday we all do DVD9 convert into ONE DVD5

Does anybody know how to make TWO DVD5 into ONE DVD9

    Then convert DVD9 to DVD5.

    Example i have 4dvds (BLUE SUBMARINE No.6)
and each dvd only contain 1 chapter.
Therefore i want to combine it together and convert it to one DVD5

I don't really mind lose some quality.

    Thanks alot

  2. Ok... First, you CAN NOT burn a DVD-9 disc. A DVD-9 (dual layer) disc is made by pressing two DVD-5 (single layer) discs together. However, if is possible to combine your 4 DVDs into 1 DVDR. My guess is that size wise some re-encoding/transcoding will be necessary, so the quaility might decrease a little or a lot.

I'll assume that you only want to save the main movie (IIRC Blue Submarine No6 had 1eps/disc).

There are a lot of ways to do this, not sure what the easiest way do this is. For best quaility I would:

    1) Rip each DVD to HD
    2) De-mux to m2v + ac3
    3) Run chapter extractor and subrip
    4) Re-encode in CCE/TMPGenc to get size to fit
    5) Re-author in DVD Maestro (accepts subtitles)
    6) Burn

But that's a lot of steps and if you don't have Maestro I don't know any other authoring programs (besides Reel DVD and scenartist) that accept subtitles.

You could use a freeware program like DVD shrink to only backup the main movie (transcoding each eps to ~1,075MB). Then join all the VOBs together, and re-author. You'd have to switch the subs on manually (the subtitles make this project a little harder).

  3. I think that the easiest way to do it would be to join the vob files using vobedit, then make new ifo's with ifoedit, and then use your favorite reencoder (DVD2One, IC7, etc.) to compress it down to 4.38.

  4. I've compiled episodes from multiple discs to one dvd5. Example - Macross Plus - I extracted each of 4 episodes using dvd decrypter (ifo mode), then used vobedit to put them in order, ifoedit to create new ifo file, then transcoded it with dvd2one to dvd5 size. The result was mixed , as one of the episodes keeps jumping around (not sure vob-id issue, transcoding issue, burn issue, or media issue)

Love the reauthor interface on dvdshrink even though I haven't used it yet. Wish it would just let drag and drop titles from multiple discs (on HD) to compile to one dvd5...

One Q. I didn't bother going through each vob's to figure out next vob-id, so I did lazy approach - I just incremented vob-id by 10 for each episode. This may be an issue... Anyone have more practical approach?

That's how I would do it.

    Hi vegita-sama,

Sorry for getting the wrong idea,

I know we can't make the dvd9. What i mean is creating a "dvd9" size in the HD and then encode it into dvd5 with IC7 or anything else.

I haven't try vobedit yet, does it help creating menus?
Is there any link for detail guide for vobedit?

for example combining 4dvd5 into 1dvd5. But i would like to have a menu with all the chapters of all the 4dvds. Is it hard to do?

    SOrry for asking too much.

I only know about using IC7, dvd drcrypter, and menuedit :P

    Thanks for the help guys
