  1. Ok I'm in trouble heh big trouble.
I bought marvel g450 and i thinking that i can capture with this card full screen video.
First i tested software pc-vcr. It's ok but to small captur.this soft do segmented capture with 4 giga part.Ok After that i tested my favourite software-virtualdub. And
..... I can capture with full resolution with lots of codecs (mjpeg, divx itd) . I tested it on win2k on ntfs partition then i could do big video files over 4 giga! Ok But now is big problem i captured in YUY2 and it was ok but after magic 1hour 11 minutes (71minutes) captured end! I now its a bug of YUY2Ok then i tested captured multisegment with the same codec and with YUY2 and its the same error after 71 miutes capture stop!

After that i was tested capture in RGB mode and now is another problem! n this mde i droped lots of frames??? And o don't now why!! because in YUY2 mode i have no dropped frames!!

I tested capture on win2k and on win98SE and it is the same probelem!

I slowly lose hope for capture with full resolution and in for example 2 hour time!!!

What is the way to capture files 2 hour long
    with this card??????????

I "fight" with this problem 2 days non stop!!
    and i'm verry angry

Video editing is my big hobby and when i bought this card i thinking that i can captured video with no problem!

Thx for your help (if it was )

    sorry for english

  2. ok i fight with this problem all night
and now i know why i loss frames in RGB mode

In YUY2 mode when i capture in full PAL resolution i have 20-30% processor usage

But when i captured in RGB mode i have !100% processor usage
and this is with mjpeg compression and with no compression??

And now is another problem why in RGB mode i have with no compression 100% processor usage??

    I have 1200 Athlon ,512 Ram

    thx for all reply

    Hello,

I'm not sure so this is my best guess:

When you do capturing with YUY2 the compression is done
by the videocard, so the only thing the CPU takes care of
    is datahandling.

When you capture with RGB then the CPU will have to deal with alot more data since it's uncompressed.

Maybe someone else has a better answer.

  4. I have had a 450etv and I've bring it back to the shop for an ati radeon ve (for the dual head features) and a hauppauge win-tc pci fm for capture.
With the matrox i succedeed in capturing only with their fu***ng pc-vcr software; with vdub i've never had 0 dropped frames even at a 352x288 resolution. I've tried averything for 1 month, win98, win2k, all possible capture programs but always i've got dropped frames
With the wintv everything is ok, vdub only drop frames when it has to keep in sync audio and video and i can use almost any codec

You don't mention what your computer specs are but it is correct that RGB capture will put more demand on the processor than YUY.

YUY is the native capture format for most tv/capture cards. To capture in RGB requires some conversion which is usually taken on by your CPU. This conversion along with the real-time compression MJPEG requires could well be enough to push the requirements over your computer's specification
