  1. I experimented by copying a vcd movie (.dat file) on my hard drive and then used nero to burn it in vcd format again. Nero did encoded it again..
    Didn't do anything else.

    I noticed drop in picture quality, audio to me was Ok!!

    Any suggestion to keep the video of same quality as original.

    Well unless its a lossless compression then your going to get lowered image qualitity. MPEG2 is lossy and therefor everytime you re-encode u lost quality. To begin with, Nero doesnt have a good encoder.

    Look in the guides section for a tutorial on how to create a VCD from a DAT file...

  3. Why are you doing this??? If you've already got the VCD authored and burnt and want to make another copy of it just copy it like you would any CD/CDR.

    There's no need to copy the dat file and re-encode/re-author the VCD. Also even thou the DAT file is playable by WMP as a MPEG1 file it really isn't. You should use a program (eg. VCDEasy, VCDGear, etc) to convert the DAT file back to a MPEG1 file prior to playing with it.

  4. so what will be the best way or program to burn dat back to cd without loose quality.

    i know i can copy, but i want to do this, ( cos i may sneek my own video file with main movie )
