  1. I have Ulead DVD MovieFactory 2 and I have used that to encode but I just read it is not that good for quality. What, in your opinion is the best encoder?

I think sometimes it is wiser to start a new thread as newer versions of encoders are released, cpus are constanly getting faster and operating systems are more stable....

    Just my two cents...

  4. OK well just some specs. I have:

    Pen 4 2.53 ghz
    1.5 gig ram
    Geforce 4 ti 4200 128 meg ram

I don't really care about the speed that much, i can start encoding it before I go to bed or work Just interested in the best quality.

main concept , tmpgenc and Cinema Craft Encoder are all good encoders ..

more depends on the quality of your source material and settings ... and what type of source files you have..

this subject has been beat to death many times .... and nothing really has changed in the last 3 years except main concept really burst on the scene ..

it's also going to depend on you.

which interface are you more comfortable with? how much encode time is too much? do you want to get into the hardcore dirty-dirty with matrices, IBP codes, etc. or do you just want to plug your files in and hit start?

best answer is to download as many trial versions and give them a whirl, preferably on the same piece of test footage.

I like TMPGenc, because with the amount of work I put into it, I get results I like. I wish it was faster, but no big deal, I do major encodes overnight.

I didn't care for the results I got from MainConcept or from CCE, but that's me. Your mileage may vary.
