I have a D8 tape that I have used about 5-6 times, and I used it yesterday to tape a car rally. I captured it today, and there were some frames that were dropped(and that normally never happens). I am just wondering if there was a lifespan on these tapes, and how long people have got out of them.

I know that most people probably use MiniDV cameras for their personal use but I find it hard to comprehend that no-body on this site has a D8 Camera, or ever used a D8 camera. I am just after people's impressions/opinions/experience on the lifespan of Sony D8 tapes. I hope somebody out there may be able to help me

  3. lots of people have d8 sony cams here. proly nobody knows the answer nor do i. but i will say i dont re - use the tapes. they are about 4 bux each here and the peace of mind i gain by not re-using is worth it. in my early days i did re-use a couple times with no noticeable difference so i say do it if you must but the less the better

I may have to find a place that sells D8 tapes cheaper as I am currently paying around $18 aust for each tape. Only using them once would be ideal but it does make it fairly expensive- especially at these prices!
