Hi. I've been reading and collecting info from this forum but I can't seem to find just the right info, so I'm pleading gross ignorance in hopes of finding some help.
I've extracted some favorite DVD anime clips and encoded them with Sorenson 3 using the highest quality setting. I then used Adobe Premier to join video and audio. Next, I exported the movie with the Sorenson 3 codec. The resulting file was over 1 Gig for a 10 minute clip. Is this right?
The playback for this clip was also slightly jerky ( I'm using a dual 1.2). The other codecs played more smoothly but the color, contrast, and sharpnness paled against Sorenson 3.
Also, after I have the movie completed, can iDVD be used to author the project without degrading the quality. The iDVD readme said that anything over an hour will be suject to compression. I'd like to get 2 hours if possible.
If there is a better way of accomplishing this, please have mercy and point me to a post or link. Thanks

What method did you use to extract the clips from the original DVDs?
Ideally, you'll want to avoid all that re-encoding if possible. iDVD does apply a re-encoding process to files at a fixed conversion rate, and quality is often not so hot.
A better solution, if you can make this happen, is to rip the anime clips from your DVDs using the OSeX program, as elementary streams (.m2v and .ac3 video and audio files). These can then be assembled in Sizzle as individual chapters. There is no menu creation option in Sizzle, but your final DVDs will have much better quality since you're not re-encoding. -
Thanks so much!!! The light in my office got very vert bright when I read your post. I think this is the info that I've been looking for. I used bbDEMUX to extract about 40 gigs of anime clips so all my files are m2v and ac3. Now to find Sizzle!
Thanks again.
