  1. Ok, I had no problems with AVISynth 2.52 and TMPGEnc 2.511. Then I upgrade to TMPEG 2.512 and now magically it doesn't work anymore. NO OTHER CHANGES WERE MADE! It no longer reads the correct number of frames in any larger AVI file (it always cuts them off short), and it will screw up the timecode throughout the file. I have run the avisynth script through VirtualDub, MainConcept, and CCE without a single problem.. TMPGEnc is just messed up though.

On a similar subject, it will screw up in the same way reading a file frameserved by VirtualDub also. I don't know what to do. I have tried everything. Re-installed every program including previous versions (except for TMPGEnc which I can't find on their site). I have tried different versions of all the plugins. I guess I have no idea what's left to try. Please help.

  2. I can't be the only one having these problems... Anyone else getting TMPGEnc not showing the correct number of frames to be encoded?

I had problems with TMPGenc in the past by upgrading for no reason. That's why I'm still on 2.59. No reason to change. While I unfortunately cannot help you with your problem, try to not be an upgrade-junky in the future. As we say in Texas: "If it ain't broke, don't fix it." Good luck, and maybe consider a "downgrade." Although is it really a downgrade when you make it work better with an older version?
I'm not online anymore. Ask BALDRICK, LORDSMURF or SATSTORM for help. PM's are ignored.

@txpharoah: We, from mediterenean countries, also have a phrase for solving problems with PCs.

For any PC problem, you have only one solution. Format C:

The "If it ain't broke, don't fix it." is wise, but for some strange reason, nobody here seems to follow it.

  5. I actually tried to "downgrade" with a copy I got off of Kazaa (2.59) and my serial. It was still the same problem. This leads me to believe 2.512 installed "something" that wasn't removed.

I am an upgrade junky, but I can't "recall" anything else that was changed between this time except for avisynth (to get out of beta), decomb (which I have switched back and forth with the old one) and TMPEGEnc. All combinations of all three have resulted in nothing so far.

How can you folks actully have 2.59
WHEN THE WBSITE SAYS CLEARLY on the top line
May/20/2003 Update: TMPGEnc Plus 2.512 is now available online

    I can't even get 2.59
as it isn't released at their own site
    So WHAT GIVES?

  7. you get it from a P2P file sharer. With a valid serial number you are entitled to use whatever version of the software you want to, especially if the most recent version screws everything up. I just wish I hadn't deleted my 2.511 installer.

don't look at it as Two point Fifty-nine - look at it as two point five nine, followed by two point five ten, two point five eleven, etc.

not a good way to indicate new versions... they need another "point" in there...

Couldn't agreed more.... Not the best version track for the users, but who knows, it may work for them (TMPGEnc).

I keep all versions of my software so I can install an older version if I need to. I never discard a version or installers of any program just because I upgrade. I keep the older versions CD or downloaded software on a HD and they have saved my a** on more than one occasion. Newer is not always better TMPGEnc is only one example. Check that all the files are in the proper directory and folder and the new version did not install in a different folder leaving necessary components in the old location?
    Good luck

I know this does not help your situation now but it very well can in the future.
