  1. Hello fellows.

I just bought a new pioneer dvdburner and instead of using multiple cd-rs on one svcd movie I want to put my svcd movies on dvd-r discs.

I have done a check and my standalone dvdplayer plays xsvcd.
That should prevent me from doing sound encoding etc etc,
and just burn them straight to the disc according to this site.

I have tried several programs, but programs like Ulead dvd moviefactory (1 & 2) and easy cd and dvd creator 6, cant seem to handle svcds (mpegs) on dvd-r discs.

svcds on dvd-r with menus would be the absolute best

May anyone please give me some help or tips ?

    Regards
    Sven

  2. I tried this and had some "success" with DVDLab. This is an excellent low-end ($99) commercial DVD authoring package. It does actually support SVCD format videos. (It does warn you that they are non-standard and not playable in many standalone players.)

Unfortunately my older Pioneer DV-343 player did NOT recognize the two different variations on the SVCD/DVD hybrid disc I produced. In both cases it played the video at the wrong resolution (with a large black bar on the right 33% of the screen.) This appears to just be a limitation of my player, so if yours supports this format, go for it. In worst case you can re-encode the video to DVD format, but you can't polish a turd and this may not give you very good results.

I was able to play the discs fine in my PC DVD player (Asus DVD XP.) I erased the disc because if I can't play it on my TV I don't really care for it. In the future everything I do will be pure DVD hopefully. If I have any SVCDs I will just burn them straight to CD.
