  1. Hi all,
I wondering if someone could possibly help me out I'm fairly new to DVD scene and have read alot of the postings in the forum but I'm still having problems.

I'm using TMPGenc to convert Downloaded AVI's to Mpeg1 - Without using the templates - Works great.

    Video Bitrate =
    MPEG 1 - 720x480
    25fps (pal)
    CBR 6000

    Audio =
    Layer 2
    48000khz
    192 bps

But when I use MF2 it says the file size is over the maximum size ie 4.95gb

Can somebody plz help me out the settings and a guide on how to do this from start to finish?

  2. 1. DVD uses MPEG 2
    2. Use a lower bit rate
    3. PAL should be set to 720x576

The best thing to do as if your new to this is use the wizard.

It took me a while to get the hang of avi conversion. I follow the following rules (in General).

    1. Check the avi properties. If its 25fps convert it to PAL if its 23/29 convert it to NTSC. Most player will play either.
    2. Use the wizards and then tweak the settings after. This will give you a better idea of the size of the files you'll get.
    2. Alway check the files after encoding to make sure the audio is still in sync

    Good Luck

  3. Thx for the quick reply Tim.

I used the wizard in earlier attempts which worked great till MF2 re-encoded the Mpeg file and knocked the Audio out of Sync half way thru as alot of people have suffered the same problem.

I'm now trying a different software program to burn the dvd which also has a encoder in it as I've been told its very reliable and doesn't effect the Audio, once I've tried this program I'll make a posting to advise people on my finding.

    Thx again

  4. Good Luck with that!

MF2 should not re-encode if it finds a compliant file. The option is in the MPEG setup and should be ticked by default. It even works with audio streams like AC3 as long as it doesn't have to render the file, I saw that in these forum's. Its a great resource to learn from.
