I'm still trying to get all the details ironed out when it comes to transfering video to DVD. I'm going to be transferring VHS through a miniDV camcorder to my PC (Win2KPro) with firewire and I understand that is a straight data transfer. When I convert the resulting DV AVI to MPEG2 video with Mainconcept or whatever, I'm assuming that the default DV codec is used during the conversion. Is this right? If it is, has anyone seen any improvements in using different DV codecs?
