    I am tring to join two avi's that have ac3 audio. When I try to append them in virtual dub it says "Cannot append segment the audio streams have different data formats" I looked at both file informations and they are identical. Any ideas on a way around this or maybe another way of joining them?

    Go to http://www.digital-digest.com/dvd/downloads/virtualdub.html and download virtualdub ac3. See if that works.

    I just tried that and it made no difference. It still comes up with the same error.

    Joining AVIs of different data streams is best done with AviSynth's "+" command.
