  1. Hi everybody,

I bought (yesterday) a PCI TV card Hercules Smart TV provided with PowerVCRII soft.
(just to say I'm a new newbie in capturing......)
My goal is to convert old VHS (like stupid family birthdays or holidays) to DVDr.
I have some knowledge on the various format conversions (DVD-SVCD-DVD9-DVD5,...) BUT... I have a small question which will probably receive a small simple answer.

I tried to capture a VHS tape (from a Philips VR101 Video recorder) with PowerrVCRII, everything seems to work fine but the image is in black ans white (PS: I checked the tape, it is colored !!!)
Did the same with the output signal of my sat TV receiver:idem.
    I use the s-video signal.

I am sure I am missing some soft configuration stupid check box somewhere or a soft plug-in.

Can anybody help a poor Belgian guy who has a lot of VHS with growing kids....

    PS : AMD 2GHz - 256 MB RAM - 60 G HDD - Stupid guy in front of screen

    Thanks

  3. Thanks for answering.
I indeed changed the format amongst the numerous ones provided with the soft.
    NTSC M/MJ/433
    PAL B/D/H/I/M/N/60
    SECAM Bla bla

2 of them give me a "colored" image but compeletely green ??
Can it be linked to my graphic card ( ATI Radeon)

    Thanks

Not likely, but did you research your card in the Capture Card database at left?

  5. Yes I did, this is the only one comment There was

    "The card is great!
Easy to install no trouble at all.
But: the programs that are included are good but not great. Whit these programs you can only rip to mpeg1 or 2. But if you use virtual dub you can do what you want. The sound is thru your soundcard. The Quality is acceptable but if you go higher than 320*240 you can get trouble. (mostly it wont work) The card is good if you want to make vcd from tv or vcr ...."

    Thanks

I tried the simple mpeg1 with 320*240 and the lowest bitrate.
    Green!Green!Green!

I just sent a mail to the tech support of hercules.

Any other suggestions will be highly appreciated
