HI, By way of background I'm a complete newbie just about to burn his first SVCD. I want to burn a SVCD from a relativly old VHS tape (an interview that was on TV in the UK with the late George Harrison - if anyone is interested). I intend to convert the analogue signal into DV by using canopus advc 100. I intend to capture the AVI file either through ulead movie factory or windows new freebie piece of software (the name of which escapes me for the moment). I live in PAL land and I want to send the SVCD to a friend in the US so that he can play it on his computer (since he lives in NTSC land he wouldn't be able to play it on his stand alone dvd player). When it comes to converting the avi to mpeg I want to use TMPGenc and, by way of comparison, Moviefactory (I'll be using the trial version). I won't be putting on menus or the such like.
What settings in TMPGenc would those in the know recommend for what I want to do. I have looked at the newbie guides, but they all seem to assume that I want the SVCD played on a stand alone DVD whereas my first aim is for it to be played and viewed as well as possible on a computer, for the reasons given above.
Many, many thanks for your help in advance.
Clifford
PS I have a windows XP pro (SP1 preinstalled) computer with a 2.67 GHz Pentium 4 CPU, 512 MB memory and a 120 GB HD.
