It took me along time to find a program that would create a dd 5.1 trac but I found one. Sonic Foundry Soft Encode, its out there and it took me some time to find it but its out there What I do is take Goldwave To extract the audio form an avi and save it as a wav file. Then you can load the 2 channel wav file into soft encode 3 times to get a 6 channel dd ac3 trac. If your making movies like myself you will also need Media Chance dvd-lab because it is the only program I found that DOESN'T convert the audio to 2 channel ac3. Some people might say other programs will do that also but I cant seem to find any others that do and Dvd-lab is so easy to use. there is even a free trial copy at http://www.mediachance.com/dvdlab/dvdlabfaq.html and if you scroll down you can get the complete manuel on the right side of the page. you will need adobe acrobat to read the manuel. Hope I have been some help because I have spent days of reading trying to figure out how to do what I have just explained. Have a great day and good luck.
One day I might get it!!!!

  4. I know that most people want a program for free, but if you want an an omellete you gotta break some eggs. So, get out your debit card and go to www.sonicfoundry.com and order AcidPro 4.0. It has the ability to mix 5.1 surround. Then, when you're happy with doing that, you can buy the Dolby Digital 5.1 plug-in pack, that will let you encode the 5.1 project on DVD. I do this all the time, using AcidPro to import my .avi video and score the project in 5.1 surround. Then I use the plug-in pack to render the project as an .ac3 file, use TMPGEnc to encode the video to MPEG2, and DVDLab to put the two together as a finished product.
