Most clip that I have look at had some kind signel loss or soem other forum signel problem, which end with bad clips heck even I have gotting that sometime there nothing that can really done that.
Well I have to admit that does sound reasonable BUT now that you have "jogged" my memory ... I seem to recall that some people even had trouble when using MPEG2VCR (by Womble) but that such problems were less than when using other prgrams to edit. I once was considering getting the PVR-250 but when I heard about the "audio problem" I backed off of getting it. However, anything that cuts out the software mpeg-2 encoding step is a good thing ... but ONLY if it works!

    P.S.
Isn't there a website that has some clips made with the PVR-250 so I can "check it out"?

  2. The PVR-350 has been on my list also. Times like these is when I wish a local dealer had the cards/converters. That way if the PQ did not satisfy me I could take it back. After reading as much as possible about the DV converters (ADVC100 and DAC100) I am now thinking about putting all of my VHS tapes on DVD also.

This question is probably going to be the deciding factor of which to get. The $$ difference between the PVR-350, DAC100 and ADVC100 is less than a $100.

Here is the question. Which one of these "devices" is the easiest to transfer to DVD without losing any picture quality?

    Thanks,

  4. SHS - I have been at your site and reading about the 250 and the 350.
The Hauppauge site shows that CompUSA sells the 250, so I might go by and try it out.

I do not care about having a TV tuner or FM tuner, so are there any Hauppauge cards that do not have the tuners? Of course I would want them to be as good as the 250. Also I know that the 250 is software and the 350 is hardware, but what is the difference in PQ?

I'm leaning towards getting a WinTV-PVR 250 at the moment and there are five questions I have for you.

    (1) Is there a particular chipset version/revision I should avoid with this card?

    (2) Do all the drivers and tweaks for the 250 model work with the 350 model?

    (3) Have Hauppauge released a new firmware that makes the captured files SVCD and/or DVD compliant. If so...which firmware should I look for?

    (4) Apart from SageTV and the Ulead software, what other programs can be used to capture with and which ones do multiple segment files (4GB limit etc)?

    (5) Can you have an overlay window running to see what you are capturing at high resolutions or can you only use preview like with the VFW drivers?

    Thanks,

    Ego
