I purchased this about 1month and I am trying to figure out what firmware I have. I have tried to look in the Control panel, System, device manager and look in my dvd and tried to look for what firmware I have. I have no problems with my dvd player, but trying to make sure I have the
nost current firmware.

Load up Nero if you have it, select recorder in the menu, then select choose recorder. Select your drive and it should tell you the firmware down below. Or d/l the most recent fw available from sony, run the setup and prior to burning the fw it tells you what version is on the drive currently.

Mine came with 2.0c, good enough for 4X. If your's is only a month old, I'm sure it's okay to burn at 4X unless it's been sitting in a wherehouse getting dusty for awhile. Record Now DX that came with your burner will tell you it's firmware version.
