  1. Hi there! I've got a DVD that I want to rip, edit, and re-encode.. The movie that is on it is split into 2 VOB files.. When I rip with DVD Decryptor that's what I get (well the IFO file too).. I hear that there's a way using Decryptor to rip to just one big VOB, but I sure don't know how to do it. Here's the problem: I've de/remuxed both of these VOB files to MP2s using TMPGenc's MPEG Tools, but while the first file comes out completely fine, the second one's audio is like a half second off-sync.. And when I play the second VOB in PowerDVD it isn't like this (tho it does seem like there's a little "hiccup" at the beginning, the audio remains synced fine)- It's clearly happening during the remuxing process.. I should note that when you actually play the DVD itself with PowerDVD or a standalone, it does the little hiccup right where the first VOB ends and the second starts.. I think whoever made it actually had part one and two files while authoring it.. That's how it appears anyway. So basically, since the VOBs themselves seem fine, I was hoping to just join them and then de/remux the resulting file to MP2 and see if that works.. And that's where I'm stuck! I've dled VOBEdit but I don't see how to do this, although I know you can.. It's not like it came with documentation or anything, and you can't even view the guides on it's website unless you pay. Can someone walk me through this one, or point me to a guide that explains it? I've not been able to find one here or at Doom9.. Thanks in advance!

  2. there's a program called vob merge around some where it will merge them into 1 (hence the name)
How long could we maintain? I wondered. How long until one of us starts raving and jabbering at this boy? What will he think then?

If you like Tekno download one of my tracks

  3. DVD Decrypter: Tools, settings, file mode. Set file splitting to 'none'. Its as easy as that.

  4. Hi,

I found the other day if you rebame a vob file to avi you can then drop them in eithe MainConcept EVE or Main Actor. These then seem to be able to be edited as an avi. What I assume you can then do is encode them using Main Concepts excellent encoder.

    DAVE....after renaming
Do these programs see the Ac3 audio in sync when you drop them on the timeline..
Or do you have to do this with VOB's only created at home with MPG audio within as I'm thinking?

  6. I am not too certain. The vob files I used were ones created when I made a DVD using DVD Workshop. You can download a trial version of both Eve and Main Actor from the Main Concept site though to play around with.

    I'll do an expeiment,
but I think you must conert the .AC3 on HOLLYWOOD titles
prior to dropping them on the timeline in thos applications..
However, thats a great new way to merge MPG AUDIO bearing
assets! (I bet you could brighten them up in MAIN ACTOR if you wanted to with this method!)

  8. Let us know how you get on.

Also you can encode directly from vob files using the Main Concept encoder.

MY MAIN ACTOR 3.5 will not accept any VOB I feed it after re-naming AVI- doesn't matter PCM, MPEG or AC3 it can't do it!
All I get is unsupported file format..
It seems to acccept MPG 1 for JOINING but thats about it for this verion.
also it crashed when I fed it a 720x480 mpeg 1 over 1 gig in size, but no probs with VCD compliant fare that large

  10. Hi,

I am using both the latest Main Actor 5.1 I think and Eve 1.2. Main Actor has been completely rebuit since the version you have.
