    Hi,

I have a Pentium 200 MHz 128 MB RAM computer running XP Home. I use KMD 2.0.2 on it and it works great. Recently I purchased a dell computer Dimension 2.2 GHz Celeron 256 MB RAM. Initially I installed just the latest KMD and tried to use it. It worked fine but I was not getting good speeds as I would get on my old computer. So I bought Kazaa Lite for around 10 bucks. But that didnt help. I tried using grokster. Even that didnt help. Then I cleaned my computer with Ad-Aware6 + SpyBot + RegClean. Then I went back to the old KMD (2.0.2) on my new computer. But no luck. I get speeds of like 2 Kb/s or upto maybe 5Kb/s. "Traffic" on KMD shows "User" 3 users and 5 users but the speed is low and the download seems to happen from only one user at a time. The other users have a speed of 0.0 Kb/s.
So I went back to my old computer running KMD 2.0.2 and tried the same files and I got speed of around 30-40 Kb/s which I consider quite impressive. My old computer runs windows 98.
I am not sure where am I going wrong. I am using the same CABLE moden (RCA). Would appreciate some advice.
    Thank You.

    Regards,
    Ravi.

  2. i am running an 1.8ghz celeron sys and kazaa works fine with me. i get slow downloads and fast downloads. i am on a cable modem also. the only advice i can give you is,
1: look at how many people are sharing the file you want to get. the more the better.
2: "babysit" your download, if the speed drops off then right click it and select "find more sources" repeat as needed to get it up to 8 people downloading from.
3: if that does not work pause the download for about 10 seconds then resume and select find more sources.

when i do that it usually picks up speed. but to answer your question there is no problem between kazaa and a 2.2 ghz running xp. that i know of.

however there is a problem with mcafee anti virus and kazaa. when running kazaa while running mcafee av, windows internet explorer fracks up. i had that problem for a while. if you have mcafee av/firewall look into your anti virus /firewall settings.

    good luck,

Kazza lite works fine for me. If you have a firewall maybe it's the problem. Although I have a linksys hardware firewall and I don't have any problems.
You paid $10.00 for kazza lite? You can download it for free.

    Guys,

Thanks for your suggestions. I tried completely uninstalling mcafee. But the speed is just the same. I tried baby-sitting it by doing "find more sources". I tried pausing it. I tried restarting Kazaa. The download starts off with around 4 users and shows connecting. But after a few seconds theres just one user that it might connect , might not. Today I immediately went to my old pc and tried downloading the same file and it started off with a speed of around 40 Kb/s.
I am thinking of going back to Windows 98. People at my work place are saying that they will lose respect for me if I do that. But I am running out of things to try.

    Thanks.

    Regards,
    Ravi.

I had the same problem with my new PC. The Problem was the version of Kazaa Lite. I copied my old Kazaa folder ovrtop of the new one and speed was great. There is a distinct difference between 2.0.0 and 2.0.2(slow one). All my addons don't work with 2.0.2, including the d/l accelerators (which are the key to real speed)

    Gazorgan,

I tried installing my old kazaa media destop 2.0.2 (the one that gives me great speed on my old computer pentium 200 MHz running 98). But I still am not getting good speeds.

Maybe I didnt understand what your suggestion is.

    Regards,
    Ravi.

Hey Ravi_Kalro whats your bandwith, and did you also accept the Kazaa Speed up program that helps find more users fast if you configure it to find sources every one second. oh and if you have a fast broad band like i do when you search for something it tells you how many users have the file and what their combined bandwith is if it is low like 48 or 1 dont get that file like for me kazaa is fast when it says 3906 bandwith but sometiems i get a problem where no matter how many users a file has the max bandwith i can get is about 1208 then theres something wrong i uninstall it and install it again and then i should have my problem fixed. just a thought
