Hello everyone-Is there any way to add copyright protection to a DVD produced on a PC with the usual authoring and burning software(Ulead, Nero, etc.)?

    Thanks in advance-Ron B

  2. CSS can only be done with pressing. You have to get a CSS key and send it along with your premastered disc for replication.

    Not sure about Macrovision.

To be honest though, all current protections are so easily defeatable I wouldn't even bother taking the time.

you can make it really screwy to back up though .. i have been doing this lately on a few commercial releases to mess with peoples heads ..

basicly keep switching field order and also change resolutions within a VOB .. and lay all the assets out of order, change bit rate on ac3 files and mislabel versions, null video streams and bogus ifo data ..

non of any other protection methods are worth anything -- in fact , we pretty stopped using them unless someone wants it real bad ..

but we did get a company charged and fined (a lot) for copyright issues just recently .. and are looking at this issue as need be ..

Hmmm, perhaps if I offer a free knuckle sandwich to anybody I catch copying the goods. Perhaps this is my Napster karma payback.
