  1. i've downloade two mpeg2 clips 480x480 29.97 fps
    file 1 -759 mb 51:17 min
    file 2 -779 mb 50:33 min

i want to burn each file on a 700mb cd so i've tryed to convert it to avi(divx 4) with the moded version virtualdub mpeg2-ac3 but after the conversion there wasn't any audio sync and quality was greatly reduced and the strangest thing is that no matter how high i raise the bitrate of the movie the size stays about 500mb. Maybe someone can suggest a better way to do the job or just leave the file in mpeg form and only to reduce it's size. thanks in advabce and sorry for my bad english

Author as SVCD, and you're fine! Using the (S)VCD format, you can squeeze almost 800 MB on a 80 min CD. Judging by the resolution, frame rate and size, they are in fact NTSC SVCD compliant mpegs.

  3. i've tryed to use tmpgenc but it would not open the file saying it's in unsupported format and yes i've installed a mpeg2 codec so maybe someone could suggest how to turn the files to avi or just reduce their size to 700mb leaving them in the mpeg2 format

Again: Just author and burn as SVCD and you will have your wish: one file per CD. Use VCDeasy to author and burn. Most likely no need to run'em thru TMPGEnc.
